Overview of Marbella

Marbella is southern Spain´s answer to St Tropez and this beautiful resort town seems to have it all. Once again, Marbella is considered a favorite location with the rich and famous, as well as for more ordinary travelers who are willing to pay that little bit extra to experience Marbellas motto  - "A way of Life".

A recent massive landscaping drive has sharpened Marbella´s image even more, thanks to a large investment promoted by the town´s colorful and controversial late mayor, Jesus Gil.

By exploring back streets in the old part of town, you will be able to discover and experience Marbella´s down to earth side. With parking all over the old town, it´s convenient and easy to drive to and visit. The 'Orange Square' is one of the prettiest places to visit and is located just off the main street in the old part of town. The 'Orange Square' is also where you will find the 16th century town hall and also the conveniently located tourist office to pick up further visitor information and a detailed map.

CAFES AND BARS

"La Plaza de los Naranjas" (Orange Square) is a hub of activity day and night. Be sure to make your way there to enjoy the atmosphere and see the stately buildings and visit the small shops, art galleries, bars and bistros. Depending on the season you may also be lucky enough to enjoy the vibrant colors of exotic tropic plants set against the white building backdrop and a deep blue sky.

RESTAURANTS

The honeycomb of surrounding narrow streets is a not to be missed area, where home and shops entwine creating a small village feel. Theses streets offer numerous excellent restaurants ranging from the pricey and exclusive cordon bleu to the resolute individuality of the backstreet Spanish bar where you will be sure to enjoy gently tobacco smoke cured Serrano ham and scrumptious and filling tapas.
